Jock McDougall - Stock Dispatcher

Livestock dispatcher Jock McDougall has worked for RBT on-and-off since he was 15 years old and says his favourite memory from his time there is “probably being offered the opportunity to come in and dispatch livestock. I never thought I’d be doing what I’m doing.”

Jock spent a year in mechanics and a year in engineering before settling into driving trucks where he has started from the bottom and steadily worked his way up to where he is now.

“Every time I came back I got a bit further, and a bit further.”

In his role, Jock deals in livestock dispatch, fielding calls and finds it very rewarding to be the first port of call for larger businesses such as Blue Sky Meats. The fleet has six fulltime stock units that are also used to include the cartage of milk and wine. Upgrades in technology have meant “the job’s got quite a lot simpler”.

Outside of work, Jock likes to head out a do a bit of hunting, and says you need to lead a good social life when you work at RBT.
