Mick Shand - Contracting Manager

Seeing the finished product and knowing the team has done a good job is what it’s all about for contract manager Mick Shand. In his role, Mick spends a lot of time dealing with clients, particularly farmers, to find out what is required for the job and sending diggers out all over Southland.
The contracting division deals in a variety of specialised skills including farm drainage, dairy lanes, demolition, forestry, roading and land clearing.
“We like to make things better than what they were.”
Mick has been with RBT for around 20 years and says a highlight from years ago was completing 13 dairy conversions in one year – “it was pretty cool to see them done.”
Sandy Point is a regular spot where Mick gets to tear up the water on his jet ski, and back on dry land he enjoys doing up subdivisions.
“There’s usually something to do.”
